Does your existing website need a tune-up or a remodel?

The following checkpoints can help to define what can be done to keep your existing website competitive and in good working order:

A- Speed

  1. Does your Home Page load in a reasonable time?
  2. Is your site cross-browser (Microsoft Explorer & Netscape) and cross-platform (MAC and PC) compatible?
  3. Are there any broken images, broken links, or overlapping on your site?
  4. Do the audio and video clips work well on your site?
  5. Does your site appear correctly at 800 X 600 resolution and above?

B- Appearance

  1. Is the look and feel of the site pleasing?
  2. Is the design appropriate for the purpose of your business and for your intended audience?
  3. Are the page layouts, colors, fonts and images consistent throughout the site?

C- Navigation

  1. Is the content of your site logically organized? 
     
  2. Is the navigation (buttons) located in the same place on each page of your site? 
     
  3. Can users get to the key information with two or three clicks? 
     
  4. Do the pages fit in a browser window or do you have to scroll? 
     
  5. Does your site have a site map or index? 
     
  6. Is there a search feature on your site? 
     
  7. Are the labeling of links and buttons clear? 

D- Content

  1. Is the content well-written and free of errors? 
     
  2. Is the content easy to understand? 
     
  3. Is there too much content or not enough?
     
  4. Does your site offer an easy way to edit/modify content? 
     
  5. Does your site provide an easy way to make changes? 
     
  6. Are the key messages immediately evident? 
     
  7. Does your site offer search engine friendly HTML titles, key words and descriptions?

 E- Interactivity   

  1.  Do all components of your site (links, scripts, interactive forms, etc.) function well? 
     
  2. Does your site collect any user information such as e-mail addresses? Why? 
     
  3. What functionality does your competition have that you would like to be added to your site?
     
  4. Does your site have a privacy policy?
